Mascara Mania Part 2 and other miscellaneous updates

Before I start this post off, I would just like to talk a little about what has been happening to me recently. Not too long ago (a couple of months maybe) I had my eyes checked. For those of you that don't know me, I am pretty much blind. My right eye is -9.00 with -2.75 astigmatism, and my left eye is -6.75 with -2.75 astigmatism. If I didn't have a nose and cant wear glasses and my eyes are not suitable for contacts, I would be deemed legally blind. In any case, I got my eyes checked, and the doctor told me I have severely dry eyes. Apparently, my eye balls are like golf balls with a bunch of dents in them. She wasn't sure what exactly was causing the dry eyes, but told me to start using tear gel, and stop wearing eye make up, because apparently the make up can get into my eyes and scratch my eye balls and cause the dry eyes. I am to check back with her in a month (the next appointment is scheduled for Oct 29) and see if that helped. So I've been pretty good...up until this week. haha, I just recently ordered this eyeshadow pallet from Shiseido Integrate (which I will blog about, hopefully soon), and I couldn't take staring at this pretty pallet and not being able to use it! I guess you could say I was going through withdraw...with the amount of eye make up I have, it's a miracle that I don't use them at lest once a week. To logicalize this bad thing I am doing to my eyes, I've decided I am going to wear eye make up for the rest of the week until the day of check up, and see if that makes a difference. Because, I believe it's because I rub my eyes too hard while I am removing make up that's causing the dry eyes, so I've been relatively careful when removing make up these days...because to be honest, if the eye doctor ended up telling me that I cannot wear anymore eye make up for the rest of my life, I might pull out a knife and stab her then kill myself (woah...a little too emo there..LOL). Anyways...that's my miscellaneous update, onto the task at hand.

SO! Since I started part one off with my lest favorites, I will go next to the ones that I feel "meh" about (meaning no particular like or dislike). These are not in any sorts of order, because I don't have any preference for one over the other, it's just which pictures I see first. And again, these are all waterproof formulas.

1. Cover Girl Volume Exact

brush

The consistency of this mascara was quite dry. The colour is dark enough to show up, but I really see no difference in volume. This was not one of the mascaras that wowed me. It didn't smudge that much and it held up the curls ok. There's really not much I can say about this mascara...like I said before, it's really one of those "meh" moments.
here are some wear pics.

Please don't ask me what eyeshadow I am wearing, because I honestly don't know...haha

2. L'oreal Telescopic Explosion

brush

This is my first stray away from Maybelline and Cover Girl (most of my mascaras are these two brands), and I have decided that it was a badddd decision. This was about 3 or 4 dollars more expensive than Cover Girl or Maybelline (I think this was $13.99, but I got it on sale). It did absolutely nothing for my lashes. Didn't really lengthen (definitely no "explosions" as the name suggests), the curls didn't fall all the way down, but it did sunk a little. The only reason this did not go on my fail mascara list (part one) is because it didn't do a lot of bad things either. No smudging, but than no volume nor length, a pretty useless mascara in my opinion.
here are some wear pics, again, don't ask me about the shadows (although I think this might be MAC's Vex)

I suppose those are the only two meh mascaras for me. Part three will be my old love mascaras. And part 4 will be my current HG mascara, hopefully that won't change between now and when I post up the blog (LOL). Until next time, live well and shop LOTS!

My goto make up items

Recently I have been sticking to a few make up items. They are really my go-to items, not because I love them, but because they are soooo easy and fast! (and I am majorly lazy! lol)

For base make up I have been reaching for my Leger BB cream. I have recently discovered the amazing and wonderful result that is BB cream. It's extremely easy to apply with decent coverage, and if all those benefits it claims to have are true, it's a wonderful make up item to own. I use about the size of a pea and that's enough to cover my whole face, with a bit left over to strengthen coverage where I need it.

If you don't know what BB creams are: BB stands for Blemish Balm. It originated in Korea (I think) by a dermatologist (that or a plastic surgeon) who deals with patients with facial scars from surgery. He/she wanted to make a skin care item that would be able to help cover those scars while it's healing. So BB cream basically has scar healing powers, is moisturizing, at the same time has good coverage to cover up scars. Nowadays, the more popular BB creams also have whitening and moisturizing properties that attracts more girls (especially Asians). Think of it as a tinted moisturizer, but much creamier in consistency, and has more skin care properties. The only bad thing about BB cream is the colour selection, usually for one brand there's only one colour. This particular Leger one is a bit white on me, I have to apply bronzer to tone it down to my natural skin tone.

For setting the face make up, I use the same brand BB powder. I actually don't like this powder very much. it's very cakey and I am not a fan of the smell (kinda smells like baby powder). But right now it's the only loose powder I have. sometimes I use my too face pressed powder instead, but I want to use this up to free up some space in my make up box.

Here are my other face products. The brown/bronze colour one in the back is my Clinque bronzer in sun kissed. I used to use NARS in Laguna, it's wayy too dark so after I finished it (it was actually before) I got the Clinque. I had used their bronzer and blush duo once before, when I received it as a gift with purchase, and I've liked the colour so this time I got the full size, I really like the colour too :).

The NARS is my newest purchase Mata Hari, and the white round thing with the bow is Kevin Beauty Maker's blush in pink. They are actually pretty similar in colour, but I think NARS is slightly warmer than the BK one.

Here they are again opened up.

On to the more exciting (not really) eye make up. The eyeshadows are used together, the eyeliner is for when I am REALLY lazy (or running late for work). The mascara is the recently beloved Cover Girl Lash Exact (purple tube), and Kiss Me long and curl (red tube). I love both of these mascaras, the CG one has decent lengthening and volumizing abilities, and is easily removed. The KM brand has amazing results (lengthening and volumizing), but sooo freaking hard to remove. Thank goodness for DHC!
Here are the eyeshadows and liner. Liner is Makeup Forever's Aqua Eyes in 2L (brown). The eyeshadows from left to right: stila's kitten, NARS's night breed and MAC's sable. NARS's night breed is seriously my go to eyeshadow. I usually use it as a liner. As you may be able to tell from the picture, I have hit pan on it. It's my very first dark shadow (not overall) but it's the only shadow I have hit pan on.
And here are some pictures of the eye look with the 3 eye shadows and Kiss Me mascara.
It's actually a very nude look, which is what I usually go for when I am on the run. Much easier and faster since I wont have to worry about fall outs and blocky colours.

Here is a closer look of the mascaras. Nothing really interesting haha.
OKAY! DONE! hope that didn't bore too many of ya'll.
