Moved!

So after much MUCH MUCH pain in the ass tweaking, I finally got my Wordpress set up. You heard right, I am moving. The main reason is because I despise the way I have to insert pictures on Blogger, and also the fact that I cannot reply to each individual comment, instead I have to make a comment of my own and do bulk reply (which I really hate as a Blogger reader as well...), although there aren't much comments...but I like to believe eventually I'll get more readers (? maybe?) LOL

At first I was getting frustrated with Wordpress, but I think after all the tweaking I've done it should be smooth sailing from here on. I have already exported all the old blog entries from Blogger to Wordpress (which was a super easy process). I am pretty pleased with Wordpress so far (fingers crossed). I am too lazy to manage so many blogs (especially when they are both in the same language) so for new posts you'll have to head to my Wordpress. I have already posted a blog entry on my new MAC Tartan collection eyeshadows if you are interested (be honest!)

you'll also be able to subscribe to my Wordpress by email no need for a new account! :)

Enough babbling, here's the link to my Wordpress

In the spirit of Halloween

Normally I'd be lazy and post this up weeks (or months) after I took pictures of it, but since it goes along with Halloween (today), I was not lazy for once and decided I will post it right now. And surprisingly while I am still wearing this set of nails haha. The Christmas nails got ruined (I scratched off part of the polish on the thumb and dented another finger by accident)...and me being some what of a compulsive neat freak, I decided to take that off and do a new one. I was thinking of using other colours, and decided to go with black and pink, and then thought the colour went with Halloween, so I pulled out a Halloween konad plate and konaded the nails too. I was hoping more of the skull showed up...but I guess there's not enough black space for me to stamp on the whole image.

What was used:
black - Rimmel Wear 10 in Black Satin
pink - Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure in I Pink I can
white - Winmax Nail Art in White (got it at Daiso)

for base coat I used 1 layer of Sally Hansen Maximum growth and 1 layer of Sally Hansen Age Correct No Chip Base + Top coat. For top coat I used Revlon Quick Dry Top Coat.

Konad - image plate m13

Left hand:

right hand:

I am not very good at picture taking with my left hand so I only took one photo. This nail took me a LOOONG while to do. What was particularly hard was the pink and white edge lines, I used a nail brush, but it was still really hard to keep it steady, and it sucks even more that I can't do it in one pass (for the pink lines). And this was also a bitch to dry, because it was a total of 5 coats on all the fingers except for the ring finger (that was 7 coats)I hope this one lasts a while, cuz I actually like the this one :) I love the colour combo.

That's it for today, Happy |Halloween everyone :) Until next time live well and shop LOTS!

Christmas nails? (updated pictures)

I promise I'll post up a better picture, but my camera's battery just died, so this is the best I can do for now.
I had gotton bored of my last nail colour and wanted to do a gold and red nail, but didn't want to have the whole nail gold so i did this fake french look. This took me a while cuz I kept touching the wet nails by accident and ruin them, and had to re-do them. A few of the nails has like 9 layers...I hope it doesn't peel off...
This did turn out better than I expected, esp the red flowers on the gold, feels kind of christmasy...I am 2 months early but whatever lol
I will post up what I used along with the more clear picture once I have it....

Until next time, live well and shop LOTS!!

-------------------------UPDATE-------------------------
What I used:
Gold - OPI in Glitzerland
Purple (line) - LA Colours Art Deco in unknown colour
red (stamping) - Rimmel Wear 10 in Hot Gossip
Konad - plate number m11

for base coat I used 1 layer of Sally Hansen Maximum growth and 1 layer of Sally Hansen Age Correct No Chip Base + Top coat. For top coat I used Revlon Quick Dry Top Coat.

I apologize, the picture is still not that clear...but I took off the polish, so I cant take another one lol.

Android FTW!

So I have been playing around with my semi new droid phone and found an app that allows me to post blogs on blogger in the comfort of my...well...my couch, since I don't have a data plan. I am waiting for my contract to be up ( next year in March) so I can extort them into giving me free data or at lest data at a cheaper rate, so for now I can only blog when there is free wifi. So this post is really more of a test blog. Maybe this will help me type faster on the phone, because I am quite slow....
What's even better about this application is that I can actually post pictures either by inserting what's already in my phone or by taking a picture right while blogging!! Obviously I am very impressed. Although I am not fond of the fact that I am unable to place the picture where I want it so that I can add some captions...I will have to figure that out.
Anyways, that's it for today! Happy Holloween! Play safe :-)

Mascara Mania Part 2 and other miscellaneous updates

Before I start this post off, I would just like to talk a little about what has been happening to me recently. Not too long ago (a couple of months maybe) I had my eyes checked. For those of you that don't know me, I am pretty much blind. My right eye is -9.00 with -2.75 astigmatism, and my left eye is -6.75 with -2.75 astigmatism. If I didn't have a nose and cant wear glasses and my eyes are not suitable for contacts, I would be deemed legally blind. In any case, I got my eyes checked, and the doctor told me I have severely dry eyes. Apparently, my eye balls are like golf balls with a bunch of dents in them. She wasn't sure what exactly was causing the dry eyes, but told me to start using tear gel, and stop wearing eye make up, because apparently the make up can get into my eyes and scratch my eye balls and cause the dry eyes. I am to check back with her in a month (the next appointment is scheduled for Oct 29) and see if that helped. So I've been pretty good...up until this week. haha, I just recently ordered this eyeshadow pallet from Shiseido Integrate (which I will blog about, hopefully soon), and I couldn't take staring at this pretty pallet and not being able to use it! I guess you could say I was going through withdraw...with the amount of eye make up I have, it's a miracle that I don't use them at lest once a week. To logicalize this bad thing I am doing to my eyes, I've decided I am going to wear eye make up for the rest of the week until the day of check up, and see if that makes a difference. Because, I believe it's because I rub my eyes too hard while I am removing make up that's causing the dry eyes, so I've been relatively careful when removing make up these days...because to be honest, if the eye doctor ended up telling me that I cannot wear anymore eye make up for the rest of my life, I might pull out a knife and stab her then kill myself (woah...a little too emo there..LOL). Anyways...that's my miscellaneous update, onto the task at hand.

_____________________________________________________

SO! Since I started part one off with my lest favorites, I will go next to the ones that I feel "meh" about (meaning no particular like or dislike). These are not in any sorts of order, because I don't have any preference for one over the other, it's just which pictures I see first. And again, these are all waterproof formulas.

1. Cover Girl Volume Exact

brush

The consistency of this mascara was quite dry. The colour is dark enough to show up, but I really see no difference in volume. This was not one of the mascaras that wowed me. It didn't smudge that much and it held up the curls ok. There's really not much I can say about this mascara...like I said before, it's really one of those "meh" moments.
here are some wear pics.

Please don't ask me what eyeshadow I am wearing, because I honestly don't know...haha

2. L'oreal Telescopic Explosion

brush

This is my first stray away from Maybelline and Cover Girl (most of my mascaras are these two brands), and I have decided that it was a badddd decision. This was about 3 or 4 dollars more expensive than Cover Girl or Maybelline (I think this was $13.99, but I got it on sale). It did absolutely nothing for my lashes. Didn't really lengthen (definitely no "explosions" as the name suggests), the curls didn't fall all the way down, but it did sunk a little. The only reason this did not go on my fail mascara list (part one) is because it didn't do a lot of bad things either. No smudging, but than no volume nor length, a pretty useless mascara in my opinion.
here are some wear pics, again, don't ask me about the shadows (although I think this might be MAC's Vex)

I suppose those are the only two meh mascaras for me. Part three will be my old love mascaras. And part 4 will be my current HG mascara, hopefully that won't change between now and when I post up the blog (LOL). Until next time, live well and shop LOTS!

A Splash of Grenadine

I know I know, I promise I would continue on with the mascara posts after this nail blog. I am just so excited by the colour that I must share with everyone (at lest the people that read my blog)

So after mauling over this Essie polish for months and months, my friend got sick of me telling her how pretty the colour is and how I cannot find a dub for it and told me to just buy it. At $9.50 a pop my wallet was bleeding after I purchased this (along with the $12 Matte about you top coat, also Essie). But I honestly could not find anything that's even remotely similar. I am not sure how to describe this colour, it's a mix of pink and purple, leaning maybe towards the pink more so than the purple. I am normally not attracted to pink, bright nail polishes, but for whatever reason this one just caught my eye, and I had to have it.

here I put the Matte about you top coat on the ring and pinky finger.

closer look. I like how the matte polish looks, this is my first try with matte polishes, it always intrigued me. I was contemplating if I should get the matte top coat or a matte colour polish (Nicole by OPI came out with a collection, I know OPI also has a suede collection, but I've never seen them). I ended up getting the top coat, because than I can turn all my polishes matte!

this is a blurry picture, but you can see the more obvious difference between the glossy fingers and the matte fingers (it was taken without flash and under yellow light, that's why the picture is so yellow)

and of course I had to do some konading. I've applied the matte top coat to all the fingers. This is the zebra print from plate m57

closer look. I was going for the not too obvious look, so I went with a light pink, that kind of shows up and kind of not. I was hoping the glossy-ness of the stamp polish would have more contrast than this, but I guess it didn't turn out half bad.

and yes there are 2 different pinks in there. The lighter one (index) is L'oreal's "Chicklette" and the darker one is Sally Hansen's "I Pink I Can"

And if you are wondering, yes my nail polish collection has grew unexpectedly, the container I store them in is running out of room...

That's it for now. I promise I will get the mascara posts up as soon as possible. School has started and the work load this semester is a bit heavier than I anticipated, plus one of the teachers doesn't like giving detail instruction, which forces me to guess what the hell she wants (which stresses me out even more). Anyways! Until next time, live well and shop LOTS!

Mascara Mania Part I

I know I know, I've promised this mascara blog months ago (not that anyone actually read my blogs LOL). I have been collecting pictures of the mascara swatches, and since they are all waterproof I can't really do it in one day (I'll go blind..although I already am). I shall be breaking these posts down into parts, I am not sure how many parts..but it'll be in parts, as I have wayyyy too many mascaras to write about, and I would like to keep my arm movable.

Let's first start with a little background of my lashes. I have thin, short lashes that points straight down. With my already small Asian eyes, my lashes covering my eye does not help me look more awake, and so came mascara to the rescue! Mascara is the first ever make up item I ever used, and it has stuck with me through out the years. I've tried many many and I mean MANY mascara brands and types. From high end such as Lancome, Anna Sui, and Shisedo to low end drug store brands such as Cover Girl (my ultimate favourite)and Maybelline, to other Asian brands such as Kiss me, T'estimo and Fiberwig. I've threw out a bunch of mascaras and almost never repurchased the same mascara. After testing out soooo many mascaras I have came to the conclusion that high end mascaras are not worth their price, and hence I've never tried ones like Dior Show which supposedly is wonderful. Enough mumbling, here are some pictures of my naked lashes

look at how straight it points downwards. Some days I have issues curling them.

Here they are again, still naked but curled. you can barely see them without mascara LOL

Here are my current collection of mascaras, I kept out a few because I don't use them anymore. I actually have done a blog in Chinese for my previous collection of mascara, and they basically have all changed...LOL

These are all waterproof formula, it's the only kind I can use (otherwise my lashes fall back to it's straight state)

I shall work down the list, from my lest favourite to my most favourite.

Cover Girl Lash Blast Length

I know I said CG is my ultimate favourite brand, but this was an exception. This was a waterproof formula. Having had great experiences with all of the CG mascaras I've used, I had confidence when I purchased this, but was utterly disappointed. Did it give length? yeah it did. But length means nothing unless the curls are held up, which they were not. I don't know what it is about the formula with this one, but it did not hold up my curls.

Aside from making the lashes slightly darker it really does not do much of anything else. I hate this...I can only use it for my under lash.

Next up - Maybelline Colossal

despite it's great reviews on MUA, this smudged like a bitch on me. By the end of the day it looked like I had stayed up for 3 days straight without any sleep. I was curious because of all the great reviews, but again the performance of this fell flat. Mind you, many mascaras do smudge on me, but some of them I am willing to put up with by virtue of the effects of the mascara, this I was not willing to. I don't think it made my lashes "colossal"

It does give length and it does give volume, but I can find other mascaras that gives similar effect without the crazy smudging.

I shall stop here. These 2 are my lest favourites, The other ones I have less issues with. I'll try not to slack and get the reviews up ASAP. Until next time, live well and shop LOTS!

Reformed Ugg lover (kinda)

I'll admit when them Uggs were pretty much on every girl's (and some guys') feet, I was a bit snobbish and thought they were ugly as hell, and wondered why people would pay an arm and a leg for these ugly ass boots. Until I got my feet into one of these heaven like boots, they are seriously like walking on clouds! However, I still don't think they are worth their price tags, so last year I got a pair of fake ones instead. They were $60 and no sheeps were harmed for the making of these boots. They look exactly like Uggs, except that it does not have the Ugg tag in the back (and I don't see why I need to pay 3X as much for that tag)

soon after I got these, the soles wore out. They were exactly the same foamy soles as Uggs, which kind of re-enforced my views that Uggs are not worth their price tags. If I had bought Uggs and this had happened (which it will) I would have been pissed off. So although I understood the comfort of these boots, I resisted in getting a second pair. That is until I found this store in a mall. They are call Flurries. They have Ugg like boots with robber soles instead of the usual foam soles (I don't understand why this is not changed), and the price tag is a bit lower than Uggs. According to their website, the boots are made from real sheep skin and fur. While I feel bad for killing sheeps, it's not like I don't eat lamb (actually I love lamb...). Anyways, These were $180 Canadian after discount (they had a 35% off for their store's grand opening, and the sales lady offered another $5 off, after seeing how indecisive I was haha) After taxes I paid about $200...these are the most expensive shoes I own as of this post, my other pair of boots were $150 pre tax (also on sale), but I suppose it's not that much far off. Enough said..here are some pics.

I love their little sheep logo, it's so adorable :)

don't they look just like Uggs?

closer look at the buttons

so instead of Uggs it's labelled Flurries

So although I still don't get paying so much for Uggs, I love these boots! Until next time live well and shop LOTS!

Korean Drama Obsession - The Woman that Still Wants to Marry

ok ok, I admit the title of this drama is a bit lame, but I actually did enjoy watching it and quite like the story line. It's basically about these 3 single women who are now 34 and unmarried. Although one of them is quite content with the fact that she is not married. The story is basically based on the love stories of the three women (though more like 2). The drama talks about all the hardship each women needed to concur before getting the happy ending they wanted. I thought it was fairly realistic in that sense. I personally don't really like the whole idea of "happily ever after" because it almost never happens that way. In reality people have to deal with a lot more issues than just the love between two people.  The drama also has some side stories as well. It's kind of complicated, but really I only like one couple in this whole drama and they are the main couple.

Park Jin Hee played the female lead Lee Shin Youn. A 34 year old woman who is very career driven and has put love and marriage aside for her own ambitions. Her long term boyfriend broke up with her years ago when she decided to leave the country to study for a couple of years. Suppose she wants to get married, but I really don't see that desperation in her. I think her wanting to get married is more like peer pressure from those around her (and basically the societal view that if you aren't married by 34, you are unwanted). Anyways, so after deciding she is not going to care about marriage anymore, a man (or should I say boy) came into her life.

Kim Bum, who is the reason I watched this show in the first place, played the male lead Ha Min Ja. A 24 year old play boy, beloved by all girls (cause he's so cute). Has a much older mental age due to the broken relationship between his parents. He made a bet with an older brother-like friend that he would be able to woo Lee Shin Youn, but then later ended up falling for her. Yes you heard right, this is about a relationship between two people where the man is younger than the woman by 10 years.

Lee Shin Youn and Ha Min Ja's relationship is basically the main focus of the show, and basically my favourite couple to watch, so I am not even going to bother with the other couples (haha). The main issue was that Lee Shin Youn was a lot older then Ha Min Ja. First of all, Lee Shin Youn had to concur her own fears of being in a relationship with a much younger man. Then she had to fight off the whispers about how she's a cougar. Then there's the mother of Ha Min Ja, who actually got pregnant with Ha Min Ja at the age of 19 and is only 8 or 9 years older then Lee Shin Youn. So needless to say, the mother did not like them dating. I hated the mother's character, not because she was so against the relationship, but mainly because she was a hypocrite. She herself was dating an younger man as well (Lee Shin Youn's ex-boyfriend who is the same age as her). The mother had the gulls to tell Lee Shin Youn not to date her son, while she herself dates a younger man, and yet sees nothing wrong with that...It angered me (cause I hate hypocrites...they should all die!). Anyways, there's really nothing R-rated about this drama (not even 14A) which is kind of disappointing. I'd personally like to see more kiss scenes from Kim Bum (hahaha).

Aside from the leading characters, there was another character that I really liked.

Wang Bit Na who plays Kim Boo Ki in the drama. This picture is from dramawiki, and in my opinion, does not look like her (in the drama) at all. Here's another picture of what she looked like in the drama.

Her character is a very strong headed, free spirited woman. She is also 34 but does not concern herself with marriage. This is of course due to a very very bad experience from a previous relationship. She had been with the guy for 10 years, did everything for him, made his family happy, and did everything a girlfriend could possibly do to make the boyfriend and his family happy. She wash the dishes whenever she goes over to his house, while his family and him would be playing in the living room. Because she was so sick of washing the dishes, she got the family a dishwasher. The next time she visited, she was told the washer had been given out as dowry for the boyfriend's sister, so she continued washing dishes for them. When she hit 30 and they began talking about getting married, the mother of the boyfriend complained about her age and requested for a very long and excessive list of dowries. She rejected the list and refused to marry the boyfriend. And from then on, she had seen that happiness does not come just because you work hard for it. I like her the most mainly cause of her free spirit and the fact that she refuses to give in to the society's ancient views. She's happy being single and that's all she cares about.

There are some stupidness in this drama (as with any other drama, Korean or otherwise). One thing that really bothers me is that when they have problems or misunderstandings, they don't like to talk about it. Instead they like to "try" to hide from each other and pretend nothing is going on (really? does that EVER work?). But I suppose without those stupidness, this show would be about 5 episodes and it'll be done, haha.

I was actually very surprised with the storyline for this show. Simply because in Asian countries, a much older woman dating a much younger man is kind of taboo. Especially a 10 year difference. Taiwan did a show (couple years ago?) around the same subject but I think the guy was only 4 or 5 years younger. Actually even for me 10 years is a big difference. But then, come to think of it, why is it not weird for an older man to date a woman 10 years younger? I think we are all molded by society in one way or another. As much as I'd like to rebel against some of society's views (eg. all women must get married and have kids), I think I am still bound by society's views.

humm..I think I am going in too deep for a simple Korean drama...haha. To end with a lighter note...Kim Bum is so cute! (I know I am older by 6 years, but whatever, he dated someone 10 years older in the show! haha).
